High Winds in the Colorado Backcountry Today Hanging in the Backyard Instead outdoors 3

We were going to head to the high country today but the winds were in the upper 30′s, too high for the kids. Just not safe to hike w/ them in the backcountry under those conditions – a tree or branch can fall at anytime.

So, we’re in the backyard today – listening to some country on KYGO, catching some rays, playing frisbee, coloring and just hanging out.

I ain’t in no hurry today……

I wrote my first ever blog post in 2005 but did not blog seriously until 2006. Since then, I have made countless friends and connections through blogging. Blogging and social media wise, the outdoor & hunting industry is in it’s infancy. Those who are blogging today and are active on social networks like Twitter and Facebook, are putting themselves out there. They are sharing their passions and opinions and connecting with like minded folks. This, like rain, is a good thing.

My first blog on Huntography was last August. Since I started to blog and get active in the online Outdoors and Hunting space, around October of last deer season, the number of real people I met and have become friends with is unreal. It’s not a fluke either. Many are experiencing the same types of meaningful connections online. Blogging in many ways, brings us all a little closer together. Both online and offline.

Sure, you don’t need to be a part of an outdoor association to belong to a community. Many of us are doing just fine on our own. But when an opportunity to meet new folks presents itself, for free, why not take that path?
