It looks like the elk have moved off the mountain and down through a saddle and into an adjacent lower valley.
All tracks lead there. Makes sense as the storm was getting ready to hit and it’s going to dump about 16 inches of snow in Breckinridge today and tomorrow.
We did all we could and on Saturday we were literally a few steps behind.
Although we didn’t shoot an elk this weekend, I documented a seasoned Tupper Lake spot and stalk hunter hone his passion in the big Colorado woods in search for the elusive Wapati.
Dave shared his 60 years of hunting with me on camera – tips, tactics and life lessons along with some of his offbeat tactics.
He is quite the character and is like the mayor in town as he used to be a pro champion skier too.
I only hope to be that hungry to keep hunting at 73.
Cheers to my new friend Dave. It was an honor to film the deadliest mushroom in the woods.
I’ll be editing our trip and it will be available to view soon.
