If you love Elk hunting, chances are, you know who Wayne Carlton is.
I had the honor of meeting Wayne at the Hunter’s Specialties booth last week at the 2012 SHOT Show in Las Vegas. In addition to getting the low down on some of his new calls from Hunters’s Specialties, a video I’ll put out in the next week or so, I wanted to just get his take on Elk Hunting today.
From conservation efforts to seeing more women elk hunters, Wayne shares his thoughts with me. Hope you enjoy the video.
Thanks to Brad Bonar for taking a few minutes with me at the 2012 SHOT Show to showcase how their new mobile ballistics calculator works. After seeing that and their affordable yet high quality predator scopes, I now potentially have the scope I need to go atop my future dedicated predator rig.
SHOT Show 2012 had an infinite amount of new gear and companies to drool over. Yet, the best thing about SHOT Show for me was the people.
Getting a chance to meet the folks you only have known virtually, whether via Twitter, Facebook, blogs or a forum, in person is priceless.
It adds a new level of connection to your initial online relationship.
At SHOT, I had a chance to meet some of the folks I’ve met on these social networks and believe it or not, missed many more due to the sheer size of the event.
Meeting Fed Eichler at the 2012 SHOT Show was fantastic. He’s a down to earth guy that really has a passion for what he does – shooting and hunting. I watched him engage with numerous folks at the booth, for pictures and interviews. In each case, he was smiling the whole time. Sadly, some other folks at different booths did not have that same natural enthusiasm. It almost seemed like they wish they weren’t there. Way to go for keeping it real Fred!
His new Rock River Arms .223 is pretty cool and I just may pick one up. I’ve been wanting a new dedicated predator rig for a while now and this one has everything I was looking for.
Looking forward to getting some time one of these days to hit the woods with Fred and dispatch some coyotes on camera.
Shot Show 2012 was an amazing experience for Huntography. We met so many great people and companies within the shooting, hunting and outdoor industry. Some of them, will be highlighted with some short video interviews we conducted. All of them however, will be great new friends that we will stay in touch with, in one way or another
In this video, I interview Jim Scoutten from Shooting USA, a legend to me anyways, as I grew up watching him talk about guns and cars. I asked him what’s the greatest trend he’s seeing in handguns at the show and in his calm, cool and collected self, he just dropped his take on what he’s seeing.
Concealed Carry is Hot! Especially for women. New solutions, products and handguns for concealed carry. Small concealable, easy to slip into your purse is what is getting all the buzz.
Thank you Jim. You’re truly a class act. A real gentlemen. An absolute pleasure to get to meet you in person.
