My friend Steve with a Upstate New York public land doe well earned and shot approximately 2 miles into the mountains.
Shooting a whitetail doe is something to be proud of! As deer hunters, we are always proud to talk about the buck we shot. We share share pictures of the bucks we kill. But how many of you actually are proud of talking about the doe you shot? How many post pictures on your blogs, in forums or on Facebook? Anecdotally, the ratio seems to be way off when compared to those that share buck stories and pictures.
Now some may argue with me on this but it takes virtually the same skills, luck and experience to shoot a doe as it does to shoot a whitetail buck.
There’s nothing wrong with filling your freezer. Feeding your family through your hunting efforts is noble. More folks should do it. Some feel peer pressure to only hold out for bucks, big bucks at that. It’s like their almost ashamed if they shoot a doe. To me, that’s just silly.
So if you are so lucky to be blessed with the opportunity to shoot a whitetail doe this deer hunting season, be proud of yourself. Lets folks know about it. Embrace it.
I know I certainly will.
To share your doe picture with us, please email me at rudy at huntography.com or just post your pic to our Facebook wall. Who knows, we actually may get a picture or two
Happy deer hunting all!
