Thanks to Rocky Mountain Archery for tuning up my Bow

Just shot my bow inside the cool range at Rocky Mountain Archery in Fort Collins. She’s shooting just like new.

Thanks to Paul for working on it for me and to Stuart and Chris for a great conversation on all things archery. Can’t wait to get their story on camera.

Top Whitetail Deer Hunting Sayings, Quotes or Cliches

Top Whitetail Deer Hunting Sayings, Quotes or Cliches whitetail deer hunting blog

As a whitetail deer hunter, you’re probably familiar with some of the most common deer camp sayings and cliches. It’s just part of our culture. Some of them however, get way overused and some are just too darn funny. There are also a good number of television and DVD deer hunting personalities who are known for a unique saying or two themselves. Any come to mind?

So I thought I’d do a quick roundup of some the ones’s I hear the most:

“Jiminy Christmas” – Roger Raglin

“Just give me a minute” – Stan Potts

“The beast is dead, long live the beast” – Ted Nugent

“He didn’t go 10 yards”

“Look at the mass”

“He’s a shooter”

“What a monster”

“Harvest a deer”

“If it’s brown, It’s down”

“Management Buck”

My ultimate all time favorite hands down Whitetail Deer hunting saying is:

“It’s the last day, last hour”

In season one of Huntography, I mentioned to a few hunters the common saying I heard so much on deer hunting shows and TV. My wife calls it the “Last Day Cliche.” I always thought it was something that was sort of built into the show to create drama for the viewer. Well, believe it or not, I experienced the last day cliche last season. The last day cliche is when you hunt for many days in a row, see or pass up deer, but eventually get a deer on the last day of the last hour of your hunt. I am now a believer in the last day cliche.

What’s your favorite deer hunting saying, quote or cliche?
