Ok, so I’ve been reading all the hubub about the news that Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s new “I only eat what I kill challenge”….But seriously, using a knife to kill a farm animal isn’t that cool. Not Facebook cool anyways….
“When he’s not too busy connecting people across the universe, Mark Zuckerberg is pursuing a new “personal challenge,” as he calls it. “The only meat I’m eating is from animals I’ve killed myself,” says the Facebook founder and CEO.”
In his May 4th comment he says:
“Every year I have a yearly personal challenge. It’s a good way to explore different things I wouldn’t normally do and challenge myself. Towards the end of last year I reflected a bunch of how thankful I was that we were building so many good things and things have gone well so far and I decided to make this year’s challenge around being more thankful for what I have. I struggled for a while about how to implement this, but eventually decided that forcing myself to get personally involved and thank the animals whose lives I take in order to eat them was the best day-to-day way to remind myself to be thankful. So every day when I can’t eat meat I am reminded of why not and how lucky I am, and when I do get the chance to eat meat it’s especially good. This challenge also has the benefit of making me generally healthier, and I’m also learning a lot about sustainable living.”
Here are my thoughts on this:
Mark drop the knife….please go and take a hunter safety course, buy a hunting license, buy a deer hunting rifle or bow, get some practice at the range, pick a state, and this fall, lets go deer hunting….I’ll personally film every moment of it….as it really happens so the world can see you embracing our wonderful pastime. Heck, we may even LIVESTREAM some of it.
We’ll hunt on public or private land – no ranches or fenced in properties that you have to pay for – that would be too easy, sort of like killing a farm chicken with a knife. If you’re lucky enough to even see a deer in it’s glorious natural environment and possibly shoot one, then you can really experience the joy of only eating what you kill…..as an American whietatil deer hunter! Now, that would be special. To me anyways.
BTW, I love Facebook. The Social Network movie wasn’t bad either
So what do you say Mark? Lets make it happen! Contact me here….
PS. - This post is half serious. If Mark ever does read this and is up for taking the challenge, I am up for it 100%….Have a nice weekend all!
