According to some folks, social networking is a waste of time. I beg to differ.
Thanks to Twitter, I’ve met many amazing outdoor loving, target shooting, deer hunting, coyote slaying and fishing friends over the last 7 months. Tommy is one of them. Not only does he love deer hunting like I do, but he’s an artist. A creative outdoorsman.
Tommy, or as many of you know him as @ghost1066, created this beautiful handmade bass lure for me. The attention to detail is amazing. I can’t wait to cast it. Hopefully I’ll catch a whopper
Sure I could buy tons of lures from Bass Pro or Cabela’s, but knowing that my new friend made it, specifically for me, well, is kind of special.
Thanks again Tommy!

On Easter Sunday, my wife and I took our children on some local lake and pond exploring adventures. We found a couple nice bass fishing spots that we’ll be sure to explore in the coming months. Pretty exciting but I think my children might have been more excited to find deer rubs on some saplings and the bone remains of a mule deer. They found bone after bone spread out amongst the tall grass. Each one wondering what type of bone they had found. The skull seemed to be the favorite as they loved counting the deer’s teeth.
It was a perfect day to enjoy the outdoors.

I’m going to look into the Kentucky Elk hunt lottery tomorrow.

After taking my kids on a few Easter egg hunts this weekend, I hope to get a few minutes to skim through these hunting magazines I just received in the mail.
Yup, print magazines.
Outdoor Life’s cover story showcases America’s Top 200 Towns for Sportsmen. Something I’ll be looking at very closely
Field & Stream has 42 essential tips, tricks and tools that every sportsmen needs to sharpen their skills. Heck, I’m always ready to learn something new.
Bowhunting World leads with Bruiser Bears and the hottest bows for 2011.
Whitetail Journal shares tips on how to get a hunting lease for less. Personally, I’d invest the money into gear or trips to new and exciting public land hunts. But that’s just me.
Happy Easter all.
